Summary
Polyurethanes have improved the modern quality of life through a variety of applications, like insulating foams, shoe inserts, and protective coatings for medical devices. This work presents sustainable routes to synthesize polyols and isocyanates from sustainable resources. It also provides
valuable insight into the industrialization of recycling processes and the preparation of green polyurethanes for industry. Researchers working with polymers and in chemical engineering will find this work useful.
Author Biography
Dr. Ram K. Gupta is an associate professor at Pittsburg State University. Dr. Gupta's research focuses on biobased polymers, flame-retardant polyurethanes, conducting polymers and composites, green energy production and storage using 2-D materials, optoelectronics and photovoltaics devices,
organic-inorganic heterojunctions for sensors, biocompatible nanofibers for tissue regeneration, scaffold and antibacterial applications, and biodegradable metallic implants. Dr. Gupta has published more than 200 peer-reviewed articles, made more than 275 national/international/ regional
presentations, chaired many sessions at national/international meetings, written several book chapters, and received more than $2 million for research and educational activities from external agencies. He is serving as editor-in-chief, associate editor, and editorial board member of numerous
journals.
Dr. Pawan K. Kahol served as the dean of graduate and continuing Studies, dean of research, and professor of physics at Pittsburg State University. He worked up through the ranks from assistant to associate to professor to chairperson, and then to associate dean of Graduate Studies at Wichita State
University. He also served as the associate and interim dean of the Graduate College at Missouri State University. Dr. Kahol has published more than 200 refereed research papers and made more than 250 presentations. He is the recipient of the 2009 Missouri Professor of the Year Award by the Carnegie
Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching.
