The "Other" Eighteenth Century reclaims the tradition of women's writing in England during the period 1660-1800 and restores this tradition to its rightful place in the present-day canon of eighteenth-century literature. By including complete poems, plays, essays, letters, and chapters that represent the spectrum of literary modes (other than short fiction and the novel) employed by women of letters, this anthology provides a sustained in-depth look at the range of women's writing from the late seventeenth until the end of the eighteenth century.
